pawky is an experimental jazz/improvisation quintet where Alice Hernqvist and Aaron Mandelmann are artistic leaders and compose the bands music. They have put together some of the most prominent young jazz talents in Sweden to form this new Malmö based group. The music takes off in the tradition of acoustic jazz but reaches out far across the genre boundaries. Naive melodies are contrasted by something darker, more abstract. Thoroughly composed passages are mixed with free spaces that give room for unexpected initiatives. Debut album out October 6th on Havtorn Records.
